It is my pride & pleasure to be posted as Vice - Principal cum Medical Superintendent of this newly founded Prafulla Chandra Sen Government Medical College & Hospital, Arambagh, Hooghly. I convey my heartfelt thanks to my Higher Authority for giving me the opportunity to serve this institution. Previously it was a sub-divisional hospital & now it is upgraded to Medical College with good infrastructure, all modern equipments & amenities& well equipped CCU, HDU, SNCU, NICU, PICU for better services. A good number of medical graduates will be produced from this institution in the long run. It is not a very easy job to hold this responsible post & serve this Institution & people surrounding the local areas. Sri. Prafulla Chandra Sen, a great statesman & social reformer and Ex- chief minister of West Bengal (1962 to1967) as well as father figure of Arambagh .That’s why this college gets a befitting nomenclature. This Hooghly district has produced great sons of this country like Sri Sri Ramakrishna of Kamarpukur, Raja Rammohan Roy of Khanakul, Pandit Iswarchandra Vidyasagar of Birsingha(previously it was in the district of Hooghly later on it is included in the District of Midnapur), Pandit Mahusudan Gupta of Baidyabati who first dissected the dead body on 10 th January ,1836 at Medical College Kolkata, a milestone in the annals of modern medical science in India. With their blessings this college starts its journey. In last two years we are facing COVID 19 pandemic situation. As a result we have lost so many lives of doctors, nurses, medical technologists, health care workers I pay respectful homage to all COVID Martyrs. During pandemic medical education also faced critical situations like offline classes are converted into online classes, physical mode examination is changed into virtual mode. These adaptation made it possible to overcome this condition. Hope with cooperation from all departments. MECL, PWD (Civil & Electrical), municipality, SDO, Police, Fire-brigade we will be able to run this institution smoothly. I convey my sincere gratitude to the Higher Officials of Department of H&FW, Government of West Bengal, respected Principal Sir& all members of the team for their guidance & cooperation.
